Cake Mix Cookies

Pretty much everyone I know loves cookies, but not everyone has time to make them so people often buy them from the store. Let me tell you I am so AGAINST store bought cookies (bakeries or something may be acceptable, and also Oreos because let’s be honest they just can’t be made better). I am a big believer in making things yourself but I know that a lot of people are uncomfortable in the kitchen or simply don’t have time to make them. Well, these cookies are the PERFECT place to start! They are so easy and fast, and trust me cooking did not come easy to me in the beginning but now I love it! So, trust yourself and try these out. You can’t go wrong with Cakies (what Miguel calls them)!

Soften the butter in the microwave and put all other ingredients in a mixer or large bowl.
Mix ingredients together (I use either my mixer or hand mixer because its easier). Then add in the chocolate chips.
Now put rounded tablespoons of dough evenly on a greased pan and bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

Now your cookies are done! Enjoy them!

Turkey Burger Sliders

You guys, I love football! I also love the fact that this weekend the entire country will be watching the same game and that there will be so many parties going on to celebrate! My cousin Wendy always threw the BEST Super Bowl parties! She is an incredibly talented chef and always has the best food at her parties! So in honor of the Super Bowl and my cousin Wendy, here is a fun easy recipe that you could easily to double or triple to make for your party or even just for yourself!

On a side note I always use ground turkey meat because they are a little healthier but feel free to substitute with regular ground meat if you like. This time I made biscuits for the buns but if you are looking for a healthier option you can always make them with these sweet potato buns which are another favorite in my house! We made these with avocado, cheese (cheddar and Monterrey jack), and spinach but you can add whatever you want! We also use this recipe to make regular turkey burgers so if you want something a little more filling just add a regular bun and make the patties bigger and you have a yummy turkey burger.

Ingredients
-1 lb ground turkey meat
-1/2 red onion
-1 egg
-1 tsp garlic salt
-1 tsp basil (fresh or dried)
-1/2 tsp onion powder
-1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Directions
In a large bowl add all ingredients including the meat together.

With your hands mix all the ingredients together. Mold the meat together to make patties whatever size you would like (for sliders I make them pretty small).

Heat and grease a griddle or pan and place the patties on the pan and cook on medium high heat until patties are done.

Place them on your bun, add condiments, and enjoy!

I hope you all have a wonderful, safe, fun Super Bowl Sunday! It is truly one of my favorite days of the year!

Zeke's Santa Pictures

We took Zeke to go visit Santa and he started out ok but then realized we left him so we were not in the picture and he freaked out. His faces are so funny and sad at the same time I had to post them!

I died with laughter when I saw these! I felt like a terrible parent for laughing so hard but I can't wait to embarrass him with these someday!

Now onto more cuteness! For our parents Christmas gifts we wanted to take some cute pictures of Zeke with lights and a Santa outfit. My sister was so great and took the pictures for us! This is not an easy task considering this kid NEVER sits still, but she did it and I could not be happier with the result! I thought my mom was going to cry when she opened the picture on Christmas morning. I am so happy we have these pictures to remember Zeke's first Christmas! Especially since they are so much happier than the pictures with Santa!

Christmas!

Hello Everyone!
I have neglected this blog for far too long! I had finals and wanted to just spend the holidays with my little family. We had such a fun Christmas with my parents and my sister and brother in law! We spent the holidays here in Idaho and when my parents got here on Christmas Eve there was no snow on the ground whatsoever. We were so sad thinking we were not going to have a white Christmas, but then it started snowing on Christmas Eve evening and did not stop until early on the 26th. It literally dumped snow and we got probably a good 2 feet or so. And we got a very white Christmas and we were so happy!

Zeke and his granparents

Zeke really loves Grandma
Zeke is the first grandchild on my side so to say he got spoiled on Christmas would be a huge understatement! He of course loved playing with the boxes of everything more than the actual toys, but he had so much fun with all of his new things! Miguel got a pretty sweet gun from my parents and I got a new camera that I am so excited about! We also got to spend 2 hours Skyping with my brother who is on his LDS mission in the Dominican Republic! We had a really yummy dinner with great company!

Our sweet friends Malia and Trenton are getting married tomorrow and we love them and their sweet boys!

The day after Christmas we went to this sleigh ride/dinner/show at Mountain River Ranch and it was FREEZING cold but really fun! Everyone gathers in this cute little decorated village and gets on sleighs that took us to this big barn where they have dinner and a show. We had so much fun and we loved the owner because he is a Ute and played football for them so we instantly bonded! haha

On the sleigh

My boys

Overall, we felt truly blessed to be able to spend time with my family this Christmas! We missed all of our extended family and especially Miguel's parents, siblings and their families but we were grateful to have family in town that we could spend time with! We have had a wonderful year and becoming parents has been the best part! We hope you all had a safe, fun holiday season!
Looking so fly for church on Sunday

Those eyelashes/cheeks!

Happy boy!

This is his new smile. He scrunches his nose and it is so cute!
